About CSCN

The Catholic Sisters Communication Network Uganda brings together religious sisters who serve the Church through communication and the media.

Who we are

Sisters in the studio, the newsroom and the parish office.

CSCN is a network of Catholic religious sisters in Uganda who work in communication: in radio studios and newsrooms, in parish and school offices, behind cameras and on social media. Many of us serve alone in our congregations. Together we are better trained, better supported and better heard.

The network connects sisters across congregations and dioceses so that we can share skills, learn from one another and work as one. Our aim is simple: that the Good News reaches every person through the media people use every day, and that it reaches them with care.

Vision, mission and motto

What guides us.

These words from our banner shape everything we do: how we train, how we work together and how we speak to the people we serve.

Vision

Communicating with full presence as the Good Samaritan.

Mission

To promote a coordinated approach among all people for effective evangelization through the media.

Motto

Creating Ripples

“But a Samaritan, as he journeyed, came to where he was; and when he saw him, he had compassion, and went to him and bound up his wounds.”

Luke 10, verses 33 and 34

Why the Good Samaritan?

Our vision takes its picture from this parable. The Samaritan did not send a message from a distance. He saw, he came near and he stayed.

For us, communicating with full presence means listening first, telling the truth with compassion, and staying with people after the story has been told.

Our emblem

What our emblem says.

The ring

Our full name around one circle: sisters from many congregations held together in one network.

The film reel

Film, video and photography, telling the story of faith in pictures people remember.

The signal

Radio, broadcast and digital media: one message going out in every direction.

The shield

Faith that guards the message. What we communicate must be true and worthy of trust.

The laurel

Growth and fruitfulness: good work, patiently done, that keeps bearing fruit.

The ribbon

Our motto, Creating Ripples. One act of communication can reach further than we see.

Is communication your ministry too?

Whether you present a radio programme, edit a newsletter, take photographs for your congregation or are only starting out, there is a place for you in the network.
